AIM
The aim of SEED International is to contribute
to the emergence of an ecological and sustainable
future through ecoliteracy and ecodesign.
INTRODUCTION
SEED International is based at the internationally
acclaimed Crystal Waters Permaculture Village, Australia Crystal Waters,
an consciously-designed ecological village, has received a United
Nations World Habitat Award for its "pioneering work in demonstrating
new low-impact and sustainable ways of living".
Directors, Morag Gamble and Evan Raymond founded SEED International
in 1997. They have over 20 years of combined hands-on and professional
experience in this field. Their personal commitment to environmental
ethics and positive sustainable change is brought to their professional
work and reflected in all the activities of SEED International.
SEED International is experienced in the design and delivery of innovative,
flexible and responsive environmental educational programs and ecological
design services that meet the needs of participants and clients both
in Australia and overseas.
Our expertise is in human capacity development through customised
education and training programs, the development of educational resources
and inclusive processes of design. Our unique approach includes a
focus on sustainable community development, community needs assessment,
highly relevant programs, and follow-up and evaluation strategies
that result in long-term relationships with our partners.
SEED International addresses the complex web of issues relating to
ecological community and economic sustainability from three perspectives.
GLOBAL:
SEED International addresses issues that are trans-national both
in their causes and consequences.
INTERNATIONAL:
SEED Internationals operations and project support extends
overseas especially to the Asia-Pacific Region, Europe and the Americas.
LOCAL:
SEED International is committed to working with local communities
to develop positive, sustainable and appropriate solutions.
GOALS
To address key global issues through a focus
on local communities, cultures and environments
To raise awareness about, understanding of and commitment to sustainability
- ecological, agricultural, social, cultural and economic.
To integrate knowledge from the natural and social sciences in order
to better understand the causes and consequences of the global environmental
challenges and their human dimensions, and provide a basis for informed
planning and design.
To further the development of integrated methods of environmental
planning and design in order to provide the means for strengthening
the interactions and positive relationships between society and environment.
To develop and share appropriate strategies to enable organisations,
communities and individuals to work towards sustainability and positive
change.
